How to Wash Your Hair Towels
Looking after your organic jersey cotton hair towel properly will help keep it feeling soft and performing as intended. Below are simple care guidelines
Before First Use
Our towels are dyed using non-toxic, low-impact dyes that align with GOTS-certified organic fabric standards. As with many deeply coloured cotton fabrics, a small amount of excess dye may release before the first proper wash.
We recommend washing your hair towel before first use. Allow it to dry fully before placing it on light or porous surfaces to avoid any risk of colour transfer.
How Often Should You Wash Your Hair Towel?
How often you wash your hair towel depends on how you use it.
If you wrap freshly washed hair without styling products, washing every few uses is usually sufficient. Simply hang it up to dry fully between uses.
Washing With Hair Products (Plopping & Styling)
If you plop or micro-plop and apply styling products before wrapping your hair, product residue can build up over time. In this case, we recommend washing your hair towel every couple of uses.
Heavier gels and creams may leave more residue than lightweight leave-ins.
Washing With Hair Products (Plopping & Styling)
- Wash at 30–40°C with similar colours
- Avoid fabric conditioner, which can coat fibres
- Air dry or tumble dry on low
- Expect minimal natural shrinkage after the first wash
Finally, don’t use fabric conditioner: nobody needs that in their hair! Plus it affects a fabric's absorbency, so shouldn't be used on any type of towel.
