Are Good Wash Day towels the same as hair wraps?

Hair wraps and hair towels are often used interchangeably, but there are some differences. Our towel can be used as a hair wrap. Simply wrap and tuck to secure. Read more about hair wraps and how they compare.

What makes Good Wash Day towels different?

Good Wash Day towels are made from ultra-smooth organic jersey cotton, chosen to be gentler on wet hair when it's most vulnerable. Unlike traditional terry towels and some microfibre, their smoother construction helps reduce friction and absorb excess surface water without over-drying, supporting healthier, more manageable hair.

Are the towels suitable for all hair types and ages?

Yes. Good Wash Day towels are designed for straight, wavy, curly and coily hair, and are gentle enough for adults, children and babies.

The smooth jersey cotton helps minimise friction when hair is wet, making the towels a good option for fragile hair, sensitive scalps, hair loss and regrowth.

What size hair towel should I order?

Most customers will be best suited to the regular towel.

The XL towel is designed for very long hair — from bra-strap length and beyond. Choosing a size is about length, not volume. If your hair is shorter but thick or curly, the regular towel will usually be the better fit.

How do I use the towel?

There's no right or wrong way. Good Wash Day towels can be worn in a traditional wrap style or used for plopping, depending on your hair type and routine.

Can I use Good Wash Day towels for other purposes?

Yes. Some customers also use their towel as a lightweight option for the body, or take it with them for travel, the gym, swimming, yoga, the beach or the pool.

A few have even found them useful for drying dogs who aren't fans of traditional towels — the softer fabric can feel less overwhelming.

How does my item arrive?

All Good Wash Day orders are carefully packaged to arrive beautifully, without unnecessary excess.

Your item will arrive wrapped in branded tissue paper, with a Good Wash Day postcard including care and usage information. Packaging materials are chosen to balance presentation with our environmental values.

Gift wrap is available as an optional extra at checkout.

Orders are usually dispatched within two working days.

UK orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked48, which means delivery typically takes 2–4 working days from dispatch.

International orders
Royal Mail quotes 5–7 working days in transit, but delivery can take up to 3–4 weeks in total, depending on local customs processing.

Orders are shipped using Royal Mail's Delivered Duties Paid service. This means all U.S. import duties, tariffs and handling fees are included at checkout, with no additional charges on delivery.

European Union
Due to ongoing issues with unexpected import charges, we currently don't ship to the EU via this website.

EU customers can still purchase via our Etsy store, where taxes are calculated and paid at checkout.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard.

You can also pay using PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, where available.

What is your returns policy?

Good Wash Day products are personal care items and, for hygiene reasons, can't be returned unless faulty on arrival, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Please inspect your order on receipt and contact us immediately if your item is defective, damaged or incorrect.

To be eligible for a return:

Items must be unused and in their original condition
Returned in original packaging
Received by us within 30 days of Royal Mail confirming delivery

We recommend using a tracked return service, as we can't issue refunds for items that don't arrive back with us.

Once received and approved, refunds are issued to the original payment method. Please allow up to five working days for your bank or card provider to process the refund.

Best Buy
I bought one to try it out, loved it, so bought another two - one for my granddaughter who has long hair and another one for myself, this time I chose a XL size.

I now keep the regular in my travel bag and use the XL size for my everyday use. I particularly like the fact that it dries quickly - I hang it up in the bathroom and it's dry the next morning, unlike when I used a towel, which would still be damp.

It's light and soft to use and if that wasn't enough, I also love the ethos of Good Wash Day, the fact they are UK based and nothing is wasted.

One Towel Many Heads
I recently made a multiple purchase using a very generous offer Carla had on. My intention is that these will all be gifted to spread the Good Wash day love. Having a bathroom company also lets me treat some of my lovely customers.

My first one was to Louise and it coincided with her big birthday celebrations, she was delighted. She had spotted a few ladies wearing them after showers at her gym and always wondered what they were. I spoke to her a week later and she total loves using it, I gave a XL one as she has the most amazing long hair. The hardest task for her now is keeping hold of it as she has 8 daughters plus a brand new baby granddaughter. I have suggested that they will make fantastic Christmas presents!

Larger Towel
Really like this larger size in my favourite colour Teal. I have long really thick wavy hair and this size wraps around securely and provides a better absorbent area. Bought two and use my two smaller ones for initial scrunching to remove excess water. Thanks for listening to customers and hope they do well!

Everyone deserves a Good Wash...
I have previously bought two pastel hair towels, which my daughter and I love. They are so much more gentle on our hair and they feel so light in comparison to a standard towel. We love them and have taken them on many holidays abroad. I have just treated myself to the teal in the XL size and plan to buy more as presents.

Wonderful Present
I bought the XL hair towel for a friend for Christmas. She said she really loves it and will get a lots of use from it. Her hair is long which is why I chose the bigger towel. She’s a difficult person to buy for so I’m over the moon.

Extra Large Towel

I bought the hair towel and the ex large one too. The hair towel stays in place and dries hair so well. The ex large one I use after a shower as a bath towel, and it’s so good.

My hair definitely feels softer since using the XL good wash day towel. As someone with lots of long, thick hair it’s an added bonus that I don’t have to have a heavy towel balanced on my head for hours now.

I bought the XL wrap and it's huge, the normal size is plenty. Haven't seen a difference to my hair yet but they are so much easier than a towel. Stays on your head if you bend down and easy to wrap. Dries quickly too. I'd recommend.

Love These Towels!

Dries well. I have very long hair so purchased an extra large size. I can double this over and wrap my hair up. Then re wrap with drier areas on the towel. Drying with a hairdryer takes less time. Great product !

No more frizz

Beautiful quality, hair is already less Frizzy.I also brought one for a surprise gift for my daughter. So lovely wrapped

I like how these wash towels stay is place, my only criticism is the material, I would prefer a better cotton feel to my skin

Thanks you for review Theresa! The organic jersey cotton used to make Good Wash Day hair towels is super soft, with a little stretch. I tried so many fabrics when making my choice. Some were too heavy and gave me a headache. Some were too thin. Some had no give at all so didn't follow the shape of the head. It was a bit of a process!

Love this hair towel

I have been thinking of looking for a hair towel that doesn’t pull my hair, I have a lot of hair but it’s fine and my head is sensitive. I saw this on Dragons Den and immediately purchased one. This is so lovely to use, I got the black so my semi permanent hair dye doesn’t stain it!

A great hair towel

A brilliant hair towel - if you’ve got shoulder length or longer hair, go for the XL and definitely wash the towel before you use it and it’s not as absorbant beforehand.

Thanks for your review Charlotte. I generally say the XLs are for bra strap length hair, and longer, but it also depends if you twist and tuck in the traditional way, or use it to 'plop'. So pleased that you love it!

Absolutely brilliant

Love these hair wraps, just bought 2 more.. My post-menopause hair was dreadful - dry, weak and more loss than normal. Using the wraps has made a real and immediate difference, my hair looks and feels better and the loss is reduced. Feeling good about my hair has a positive impact on me all round.

nice cotton wrap

i was looking for an organic cotton wrap for my long hair after washing, and was happy to find this one! it dries the hair faster than what i was used to with microfiber. love using it so far.

This towel is the best

This towel is the best. I’ve never been able to comb through my wet hair with ease. Now 20mins with a Good Wash Day towel on wet hair & I can comb through with ease. Also my fine hair is almost dry!
