After 25+ years of straightening my hair, I started to embrace my natural texture in early Spring 2020
"I had no idea what to expect, and I certainly didn’t know how to look after waves and curls. I went down a rabbit hole of shampoos and conditioners and stylers and gels and cationic surfactants and polyquats and techniques.
I also added the term 'plopping' to my vocabulary — a curl-friendly drying technique that changed how I thought about towels altogether.
It became abundantly clear that to get the best out of our hair we need to look after it and keep it as healthy as possible, and a very important but often overlooked part of this is our choice of towel."

Tried & Tested
Early on, my research led me to swapping out regular bathroom towels for a more hair-kind option. I bought three, but they were too small, and the colours weren't very appealing. I tried T-shirts, a popular choice, but found them awkward to use. I avoided microfibre towels altogether — they felt rough, synthetic, and not aligned with the kind of product I wanted to create. I couldn't find what I wanted, so I set about creating it.
Versatile For All Hair Types
I knew I wanted Good Wash Day towels to be as versatile as possible. Suitable for all hair types, supportive for those experiencing hair loss, and practical for travel, the gym, the pool or yoga. Because our organic jersey cotton hair towels are lightweight and comfortable, people genuinely use them in all of these ways.
Curly Girl Method
It felt important that those with curly and wavy hair could use our towels to ‘plop’ (you can read about plopping here). I intentionally avoided a traditional turban shape with a button. Twisting hair tightly while wet can create tension, and loops and fasteners can weaken over time.
Our Hair Towel Shape & Design
Good Wash Day hair towels are a classic rectangular shape — similar in size to a traditional bath towel. The regular size suits most hair types, and we also offer an XL for very long or thick hair (or even for use on the body).
All are made from ethical, ultra-soft organic jersey cotton.
What began as a towel designed with curls in mind has evolved into a hair towel for everyone.
Over the years, products have come and gone. I now know what works for my hair — and what doesn’t. My Good Wash Day towel? It’s stayed.
If you have any questions, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
From my kitchen to Chelsea's King's Road via Dragons' Den!
In 2021, when I began making Good Wash Day towels, I genuinely wondered whether anyone would buy them. A few years later, that same idea led to a Facebook Live with Trinny Woodall and an invitation to stock Good Wash Day towels in the Trinny London flagship store on Chelsea’s King’s Road for six months.
In 2024, I stepped into the Dragons’ Den. I received three offers and chose to accept investment from Sara Davies. It was an experience that felt both surreal and deeply affirming.
Today, Good Wash Day towels are used by over 26,000 customers across 49 countries worldwide. What began as a quiet idea at my kitchen table has become something I’m incredibly proud of, built slowly and thoughtfully, with the Good Wash Day community at its heart.
Some very special moments along the way...
